Task 1: Sectors, Platforms and Consumption
In our Generation games have become a very big part of our day to day life. so therefore advertisements have taken different approaches, instead of making short videos traditionally or still images. But adverts have taken a much more exotic change by making advert games like the one above. The reason adverts do this is so that it engages its audience and helps them to interact and get a much more clear understanding of the products. As you can see above this is a clear example of an advert game and its task is to shoot the gold i phone. It also says above 'Be the first to get the Gold iPhone'. this advert in a way draws you to playing this game as it says on the top left hand side 'limited time offer' so this will want to draw you so you can play the game. but at the end of this gaming aspect of the advert it is still an advertisement like any other and uses very persuasive techniques to make you want a gold iPhone. one main way this is seen as new advertisement, is because this has combined elements of a video game which entertains people.
. How can you recognise this is an old or new sector, what platform/where would you find it, how are adverts presented (ie TV in between programmes, Youtube before a video plays you can sometimes skip?, Pop Ups when you go to a website.
2. What are the differences in how they target their audiences - individual and personal, or based on larger demographics like women's magazine or kids tv channel
3. How do the audience consume these ads differently (see, watch, interact, active or background noise). Is it casual, passing, is it via your phone or device, do you have control over it, do the audience like or retweet or interact with the ad?
What are the differences?
Can you skip it or are you a captive audience?
